Setup M-Audio Oxygen Pro in FL Studio

This page covers step-by-step how to install & setup Oxygen Pro MIDI Keyboard in FL Studio (Quickstart).

Getting Started with M-Audio Oxygen Pro in FL Studio [Installation Guide]

M-Audio Oxygen Pro FL Studio Guide:

There’s two approaches you can take.

100% free version which fixes the Oxygen Pro Transport Buttons, or my Premium FL Studio Template for easy installation (no figuring out).

Premium comes with two versions:

  • Version 1 (Normal MIDI Keyboard operation)
  • Drum Pad Workflow – Revolutionary FL Studio workflow

Step 1: Oxygen Pro MIDI Script

First, Download FREE Oxygen Pro MIDI Script.

This free FL Studio MIDI Script sets up transport buttons for normal operation, and ensures LOOP Button switches Song & Pattern mode.

This is how I’ve known default MIDI Keyboard operation in FL Studio:

  • PLAY = Play / Pause
  • STOP = (1 Press = Stop, 2 Press = Resets)
  • LOOP = Switch Song / Pattern Mode
  • RECORD = Record On / Off
  • FORWARD = 1 Bar Forward
  • BACK = 1 Bar Back

Next, Install Oxygen Pro MIDI Script in FL Studio, which shows where to drag FL Studio MIDI Script, and how to enable & set it up.

Step 2: PRESET vs. DAW Mode

Hold DAW button, and select “FL ST.” (Use “PUSH TO ENTER” knob to save!). You should only have to do this one time.

Each time you turn on Oxygen Pro keyboard, press PRESET MODE.

DAW Mode is buggy, and gives a bad FL Studio experience!!!

Always use M-Audio Oxygen Pro PRESET MODE in FL Studio each time you turn on keyboard!!

Step 3: Set TEMPO SYNC to EXTERNAL

My Premium Oxygen Pro Template sets this up for you. Simply just import my Template, and you’re good to go.

There’s two ways to set Oxygen Pro TEMPO SYNC to EXTERNAL:

  1. Automatically: Install M-Audio Oxygen Pro Preset Editor, create template with TEMPO SYNC as EXTERNAL, and send preset into Oxygen Pro & overwrite Preset 1. Then hold PRESET on keyboard and select your preset.
  2. Manually: Each time you turn on Oxygen Pro, you can hold down TEMPO SYNC and set EXTERNAL (but annoying to do each time).

Learn more how M-Audio Oxygen Pro Preset Editor works.

Overwriting Preset 1 is recommended as it seems Oxygen Pro loads Preset 1 when turning off/on. Just remember to press PRESET on keyboard to always use Oxygen Pro in PRESET MODE.

Make sure to set TEMPO SYNC to EXTERNAL. INTERAL is why Transport Buttons are intermittent in FL Studio.

If INTERNAL, the MIDI Keyboard TEMPO SYNC button will be blinking, and cause double press (you press play, and it instantly plays then pauses.. EXTERNAL permanently fixes this).
