Adam
Hey there, its been a while. How are you. Here is my question. What tools do you recommend in fl studio to create dj drops and promos for vocal effects.
April 28, 2024 at 3:10 pm #94926Hey Adam, hope you’re well… I’m doing good.. have tackled a lot of little things behind the scenes lately.
For DJ Drops and Radio Voice-Over stuff, this is really about VSTs for vocal effects.
I really don’t have much experience here.. but I know you can get away with just knowing the basics of these core tools like Delay, Distortion, EQ, Compression etc.
You start using these tools in such a way to over process the vocal for that big & wide vocal sound.. often you may layer to thicken, or record a vocal twice (overdub) for this thicken & wide sound, too.
In short.. learn about short delays, thickening (layering sounds, or wideness), and how to process loud vocals with compression (often fast attack / release, and aggressive ratio.. possibly to the point of limiting!)

Hey there. are there names of the core tools like Delay, Distortion, EQ, Compression etc. Are they native FL or do I need to find them and purchase
April 28, 2024 at 3:30 pm #94928Many of these tools are native stock plugins in FL Studio!
Here’s some I like using:
- Distortion – Fruity Blood Overdrive
- Distortion – Distructor
- Delay – Fruity Delay 3
- EQ – Fruity Parametric EQ 2
- Reverb – Fruity Reeverb 2
FL Studio often has more plugins in each category, but these ones are my favorite 🙂
Many times routing in PARALLEL will give you a lot more control, rather than applying the plugins directly onto a mixer insert. I share that in my new FL Studio Template V2 Course.
Let me know if you need more clarity

One more question. what about one shot fx. I have kinda fell into a niche by trying to create my own for the basketball ministry. ha ha. Im looking for a ton on one shot fx. great to catch up again
April 28, 2024 at 4:13 pm #94930That Xclusive-Audio Drum Bundle TRIO has about 100 one-shot SFX if you’re looking for a quick and drag approach for risers, etc..
They are located in:
- Urban Heat’s FXS & VOX -> Sound FXS
- Organic Drum Kit’s -> Transition FXS
The process of creating your own definitely takes times.. and like I always say.. is a whole different world than making beats.. you are entering the world of Sound Design for Beatmakers.
