What is FL Studio 24? Where did FL Studio 21 go?

Image-Line decided to give FL Studio a new naming convention which now follows the year, rather than Major, Minor, Bug Fix Release, and sometimes Build Number.

In previous versions, FL Studio 20.8.4 would be:

• 20 = Major
• 8 = Minor
• 4 = Bug Fix

The new naming convention in FL Studio 2024 still has patch numbers, so for example FL Studio 2024.1.2:

• 2024 = Major
• 1 = Minor
• 2 = Bug Fix

A bit of history:

FL Studio 12 jumped to FL Studio 20 due to their 20th year anniversary, but FL Studio 20 was released MAY 22, 2018.

FL Studio 20.9.2 was the last version and released MARCH 11, 2022.

FL Studio 21.0.0 released DECEMBER 6, 2022.. so we can see the date is irrelevant to the actual product version.

FL Studio 21.2.3 was the last version released FEBRUARY 8, 2024.

FL Studio 2024 I guess is technically a new “major release”, different from FL Studio 21, and follows the year for “major release” naming convention.

FL Studio 2024.1 was the first version, and released JUNE 26, 2024.

On the Download FL Studio Page, they’re using 24 instead of 2024 to follow the current year.

At the time of writing, FL Studio 24.1.1.4239 is latest version, released JULY 5, 2024.

That would be:

• 24 = Major Version
• 1 = Minor Release
• 1 = Bug Fix
• 4239 = Build Number
