Why I Created This Course
The Lesson That Changed My Beatmaking
When I started making beats in 2009, I could not find piano training made for producers.
Everything out there was CLASSICAL piano.. sheet music, memorization, and hours of daily practice I was never going to do.
But producers use a piano differently. We need to know how chords work, how to count our beats, how to improvise, and how to play well enough to record a melody (our DAW cleans up the MIDI afterward anyway!).
And the hardest thing to find an answer to was embarrassingly simple: how do the white and black keys work together?
Then one day my childhood neighbor walked by while I was out on the driveway. She used to be a piano teacher.
I told her I'd started producing music but couldn't crack that question. She said I only needed the basics of how chords work to start improvising, and we booked a couple of lessons.
That first lesson changed my beatmaking forever.
Once I understood how the keys worked together, melodies stopped being guesswork.
Since that day I've practiced piano about five minutes a day.. and my beats get better every year. 🙂
Now I Teach It the Way I Needed It Taught
Piano Lessons for Producers covers exactly what us beatmakers need on a piano: improvisation, chords, scales, and the basic theory, and it skips everything classical piano insists on that producers never use.
You don't need perfect timing. You don't need complex chords.
You need to know which notes you're ALLOWED to play, and how to turn that into catchy melodies. That's what I teach.
