FL Recording Midi in Song Mode

AnsweredClosed

RobertApr 12, 2022

Question: How come I cannot record midi while in song mode? I want to record midi from my keyboard while the song is playing in song mode and record to a separate pattern and not record in pattern mode with the metronome.

How come FL does not do this??

Am I missing something? This should be so simple to record in song mode once you have a basic strong structure down in the playlist.

Please advise!

Thanks!!!

Hey Robert, great to hear from you again!! (And thanks for using the questions area 😎)

I am not 100% sure for this reason, as it should be simple as you say...

What I think we should start with is RIGHT-CLICKING the RECORD BUTTON at the top of FL Studio. Here's what my settings show:

FL Studio Recording Settings - Panel Recording Filter and Options

I'd say copy my settings, then try to record in song mode with your MIDI Keyboard into a new pattern again.

You should be able to use your metronome enabled or disabled in both Pattern or Song mode.. (sometimes the metronome is useful in the beginning stages of the beat before you have your kick and clap going).

Try my settings above, and report back!
