Hey Adam, I personally like the custom music folder approach to using FL Studio. This folder contains all your music files from projects, sounds, and VST2 versions of files (as VST3 must live in “Program Files/Common Files/VST3”)
My course A Specific Music Production Folder shows how to setup your music production folder, and how to organize it for the long-term use:

You can simply just drag + drop a folder into FL Studio which will appear in the Browser, but this approach will be very unorganized in the long-term causing a lot of missing files if you ever move computers (or re-organize your files/folders).
When you are new to producing what happens is you find a bunch of free sounds (or paid sound kits you’re buying), and what you’ll discover is some of the sounds are really good, and some aren’t.. so you start removing what you don’t like. This is when the missing files start happening.
In short, here’s how:
Create a custom music folder, inside that folder, create a Drum Kits folder. Within Drum Kits is where you store and organize your sound packs (not virtual instruments).
With your Custom Music Folder located where you want on your computer, you can then simply drag this Drum Kits folder into FL Studio. You’ll see it in the FL Studio Browser (left sidebar).
To edit and manage folders in the browser, this is located in your Settings -> File tab. (F10 is shortcut for menu).
You can then remove folders in FL Studio if things get messy.
Hope that helps!
