I have revamped the course viewing area for the third time!
If you are new around here.. I have a beatmaker training platform with tons of FL Studio courses!
The first time was a major switch.. as the learning software actually changed, which means all student data was reset.. That was an important move for myself, as it allowed for WAY MORE integration with various other tools out there when it comes to managing this website!
When switching to the new course software, the new layout was kind of basic.. it was really white/bright, but it was 100% functional..
What Changed in Version 3?
The Left Sidebar
On the left-hand sidebar, you can see the font is easier to read.
I reduced the font-size a little bit, and made it bold.. I also reduced the spacing between each lesson item so more items fit on the screen without having to scroll so far!
Also, the “current lesson” now has a dark background, and lime-green text.. (previously it was grey and dark which I liked… this one just stands out more, and blends a bit better with this new design).
The Top Title Bar
The changes were minor.. but were an enhancement.
I put the same blue color behind my logo, with a gentle shadow undearneath, which continues across the whole top menu… when you scroll, this shadow helps it stand out.
The progress bar text is now centered and just looks better..
The next and previous buttons now have a cooler “hover effect”.. and if you click them, they will highlight green!!
And I quickly cleaned up the profile menu when you hover over it.. (remember, if you want your image to show, you need to sign-up on Gravatar.. then you’ll have an image!)
The Main Content
This area got the biggest overhaul!
Instead of the plain white background, there’s now a background image of my studio, with a green/purple overlay color..
I removed the “breadcrumb” under the lesson title which showed either “in progress” or “complete”.. I thought it was redundant, as you can see in the sidebar if a lesson is complete!
I wanted to try and get the video 100% visible so you do not have to scroll down to hit “full screen” on the video player itself.
If your video is not 100% in view, I’d suggest zooming out 1 or 2 times until it is full zoom. That way, you can press play on the video, then press the “full screen” option to go full screen.
When you are done watching, either hit ESC (escape), or press full screen again, mark the lesson as complete, and you’re good to go.
If you want a REALLY immersive learning experience in the course viewing area, try pressing F11 in your browser. (Press F11 again to leave that full screen mode.)
This puts your web browser FULL SCREEN to remove all distractions, and you can just focus in my course viewing area..
Anyways.. I hope you enjoy the new revamp..
